The Conference Calls: ‘The Old Grapevine is Back’

panel

The first ever one where in a rather meandering conversation which was meant to focus on ‘credibility’ but took in discussing the ori-gins [sic] of The Drunkbirder blog, who The Reservoir Cats are (apparently neither me nor Tom), twitching House Crows in Ireland, taking notes, serving apprenticeships, and all manner of vaguely bird-related stuff.

Oh, take note, the podcast does contain ‘infrequent uses of bad language’.

Show Notes

So, who does the panel consist of?

  • Me, Charlie Moores, a freelance writer and podcaster and now sadly only occasional birder who lives in a warm little cottage in north Wiltshire with his family.
  • John Hague, a birding psychiatric nurse from Barnsley who now lives in Leicester where he’s a prominent member of the Leicester and Rutland Ornithological Society: John blogs extensively at The Drunkbirder where he rants “about the world and the absurdities of life” and “uses some very strong language“. All good stuff…
  • Tom McKinney, the Derbyshire-based birder and award-winning musician who founded The House of Bedlam and gigs as part of Tango 5, and writer of the much-missed Skills Bills blog. Tom now blogs weekly at Birdingblogs.com/TomMcKinney.
  • In future podcasts the ‘panel’ will be joined by Martyn Hayes, a twitching birder from South Gloucestershire who is passionate about local-patch birding and who single handedly runs Birding South Glos. Martyn unfortunately had to earn a living this week so missed out on the inaugural ‘Conference Call’ podcast.
